Straight, plain reporting!

Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia – Shortly after my meeting with Sabah State Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal, I faced a group of media men who asked me on what we covered in our hour-long meeting.

Of course, I knew they were trying to bait me into saying something about the issue on Sabah Claim by the Philippines which was not discussed during our very cordial meeting.

Today, former Mindanao Presidential Adviser Paul Dominguez who now is connected with the Asian Development Bank and who joined me in this trip to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, gave me a copy of the local paper, The Borneo Post.

“See how the media here reported on their interview with you. Everything that you said is there, almost verbatim,” he said.

True enough, there was no “in depth analysis” of the context of my statement. It was plain and simple news reporting.
