Whole-Of-Nation-Approach OCD XI CALLS TASK GROUP TO ADDRESS ASF OUTBREAK

The Office of Civil Defense in the Davao Region has called all national and local government agencies to an emergency meeting on Monday to address the reported outbreak of the African Swine Fever in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental.

Director Liza Mazo of OCD XI who chairs the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council has called for the activation of the Regional Animal Disease Task Force.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) is expected to make a report on the status of DA’s effort to contain the ASF.

The involvement of almost all agencies in the effort, including the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) is expected to strengthen the efforts to contain the disease.

Don Marcelino is a coastal town facing the Davao Gulf and has only one major access road.

Meanwhile, a team from MinDA supported by the private sector will proceed to Ground Zero tomorrow Sunday to assist the LGU in addressing the problems.

The MinDA team is supported by veterinarians from Pilmico, a feed and livestock company.

Along with the Mindanao Hog Raisers, Pilmico has donated power sprayers, disinfectants, tents, footbath pans and other items needed to establish quarantine outposts.
