Isabela City, Basilan – The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will partner with the Manila City Government to stage the first-ever MinDA Fish Festival before the end of March to help the region’s fishermen get a better price for their catch.
As Mindanao declares an Open Fishing Sesson on March 1, fishermen especially in the islands had been landing tons of pelagic species daily, especially Galunggong.
I visited two fishports today, Maluso and Barangay Tabuk, Isabela City, and personally saw the quality of fish caught in the rich fishing grounds of Sulu Sea.
In Maluso Fish Port, Galunggong is sold for P70 per kilo while in Sunset, Isabela City, the price is P80 per kilo.
MinDA will assist Mindanao fishermem establish links with Metro Manila buyers to get a better price for their catch.
Previously, MinDA also partnered with the Manila City Government to hold the MinDA Tienda in Manila.
