Boxing Sunday 3-FIGHT SERIES POSSIBLE FOR FLOYD, PACMAN STARTING NEXT SEPTEMBER

A three-fight series may begin in September next year between WBO International Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten champion and pound for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

This scenario is made possible with Mayweather’s announcement that his last ring appearance will happen in September 2015.

Mayweather’s designated last fight date coincides with the last of the six-fight contract he signed win CBS Showtime in 2012.

The date is also significant because Pacquaio will no longer be under contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions unless he signs for an extension when his contract expires at the end of this year.

Mayweather is standing by his statement that he won’t face Pacquiao in the ring unless he steps outside the shade of Bob Arum”s umbrella.

Mayweather and Arum had a falling-out some years back when the unbeaten champ was under contract with Arum’s Top Rank Promotions.

The proposed Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, which appears to be the richest fight in boxing history if it happens next year, has been on the drawing board for almost four years.

Boxing experts and analysts say that the highly hyped showdown between these two great fighters will net them at least $100 million each.

In recent weeks Mayweather and Pacquiao have been throwing trash talks at each other in an apparent move to hype their respective incoming fights, They seem to know and admit that a fight between them won’t happen within this year.

Mayweather, who is touring South Africa in an effort to revive boxing in the country, said his opponent will be known this week. His next opponent could either be British idol Amir Khan or Marcos Maidana of Argentina.

Pacquiao and Arum are pointing on a rematch against Timothy Bradley or a possible clash with Pacquiao’s former sparring partner Ruslan Provodnikov.

Mayweather is set to appear with his chosen opponent on May 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada while Pacquiao will follow on April 12 at the same venue.

Both fighters have expressed their intention to retire from boxing in two years but it is likely that a rematch will be mandated in their contract which could end up in a three-fight series starting September next year.
