FALLEN THAI CHAMPION CONGRATULATES PONTERAS

Ruslee Samo, the Thai defending champion of the IBF Pan Pacific title who thought Ryan Rey Ponteras was his stepping stone for a shot at the world crown, learned a sad lesson yesterday that an opponent’s bad fight record does not mean an easy fight.

After the fight yesterday, Ruslee came to Ponteras’ dug out and congratulated the 22-year-old new champion.

“You are good, you are good,” Ruslee told Ponteras.

Ponteras could only meekly smile and say “Kap Kum Kap.”
