MANNY PACQUIAO PLAYS WITH RIOS; WINS 12 ROUNDS OF CLASSIC BOXING

In a classic display of ring skills and talent, 34-year-old Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao dominated and
virtually turned American Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios to an overly-paid sparring partner winning almost all of the 12
rounds of their fight in the Cotai Arena of the Venetian in Macao, China earlier today.
Pacquiao, who is coming off from two successive loss – the first in a controversial split decision to American Timothy
Bradley and the second via a shocking 6th Round KO to Mexican nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez – completely
prevailed over the slow and slugging Rios and came out of the fight with his face virtually unscathed.
Rios, on the other hand, suffered two cuts, one each over both eyes, a puffy face and a badly bruised ego having
failed in his pre-fight brag of sending Pacquiao to retirement.
Pacquiao, who was earlier brushed aside by detractors as a washed up fighter because of his two successive
losses, displayed outstanding ring skills where he obviously sacrificed power over speed.
Showing complete control of the fight, Pacquiao hit Rios when he wanted to and made the American look silly by
simply slipping under the haymakers of his younger opponent.
"I wanted to show them a younger Manny Pacquiao," he told veteran boxing commentator Larry Merchant after the
fight.
In a message solicited by Merchant, Pacquiao thanked God and promised the victims of the recent Siuper Typhoon
Yolanda in the Visayas that he will go the devastated area soon.
With the victory over Rios, Pacquiao effectively brought his boxing career to the trail with the expected mega-buck
bout with American Floyd Mayweather.
