The elimination round of the motorcycle drag race for the Feb. 16 “Tulabong Festival” to be held at the 1.2-km runway of the M’lang Airport drew over 3,000 spectators Saturday.
M’lang Mayor Lito Pinol reported that the huge crowd indicated the great interest of the people of M’lang and the neighboring towns in the staging of the “1st Tulabong Festival” which is a celebration of the construction of the M’lang airport.
In view of the huge number of participants in the motorcycle drag race, which is one of the events to be held at the M’lang Airport for the “1st Tulabong Festival,” the organizers decided to hold elimination rounds.
The next elimination round will be tomorrow, Feb. 10, and the finals will be on Feb. 16, according to Councilor Freddie Sales, events coordinator.
The “1st Tulabong Festival” will be marked with an airshow which will feature two Ultra-light planes to be piloted by Capt. Rey Acosta, husband of former Davao City councilor Mabelle Sunga-Acosta, and Australian pilot Capt. Sam Mente.
Three skydivers will also be featured in the morning actvities which will be witnessed by thousands of young students from the different schools of M’lang.
After the airshow, there will be a drag race in the “habal-habal”, tricycle and scooter divisions.
The airshow is sponsored by Col. Samuel Afdal who owns the two Ultra-light planes.
