Here Comes The Stork!
By Manny Pinol
The stork, the symbolic carrier of blessings and bundles of joy, is flying to the Pacquiao home.
Last Tuesday, following his work out at the MP Towers Gym in Sampaloc, Manila, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao proudly announced that his wife Jinkee is three months pregnant with their fifth child.
“Magiging tatay na naman ako,” he told old friends and select members of the media. (I will be a father again.)
Pacquiao and wife Jinkee already have four children -Jimuel, Michael, Princess and Queenie. And if Jinkee would be given a choice, she would like her fifth child to be a boy.
Jinkee, the new vice governor of Saranggani Province, confirmed her pregnancy on national television.
“Actually hindi ko in-expect, pero ganito naman talaga (We didn’t expect this. But it happens),” she said in a TV interview.
“If it’s God’s will, siempre tatanggapin mo (you must accept it) We’re very thankful that God gave us a new addition to our family,” she added.
“Boy, para may ano sila… ‘yung mga boys ko, tatlo na silang basketball player! (So I will have three boys, three basketball players),” Jinkee told ABS-CBN.
The news of the expected arrival of the new member of the growing Pacquiao family came as the eight-division world champion is in the thick of his preparation for his critical fight against American Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios on Nov. 24 in Macau.
It is a must win fight for Pacquiao having lost twice in a row, the last time to nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez who knocked him out cold in the dying seconds of the 6th round.
Before that, he lost by a controversial split decision to American Timothy Bradley, Jr.
The coming of the stork carrying a bundle of joy for the Pacquiao family, however, could mean the end of months of setbacks for the greatest Filipino fighter of all time.
