Johannesburg, South Africa – Undefeated Braveheart fighter Jundy “Pretty Boy” Maraon tipped the scale at 116.5 lbs. yesterday and is in top shape for his first crack at the world bantamweight title tonight, according to veteran trainer Nonito Donaire, Sr.
Donaire, texting from Newark, New Jersey where Maraon will go up against Dominican Republic’s Juan Carlos Payano, also undefeated, said that the fighter from Molave, Zamboanga del Sur is in top shape.
“We came in one and a half pounds lighter,” said Donaire Sr. after the weigh-in where both boxers were not supposed to exceed the 118-lb. limit for the bantamweight division.
“Payano can run all night long but once Jundy connects, he will feel the pain,” said Donaire Sr. of his 28-year-old ward whose record is 15 wins, 12 KOs and 1 draw.
The result of the fight in New Jersey will be immediately reported in this facebook.com page.
