Banisilan District Hospital: Victim Of Childish Politics

Just like the Mlang Airport Project, the Banisilan District Hospital Project in the northern town of Banisilan near Lanao del Sur stands as a monument of political vindictiveness that has prevailed in North Cotabato over the last 15 years.
Built on a 1.2-hectare land donated by a private citizen of Banisilan who had long dreamed of health services for the people of the remote town, the operation of the hospital had been put on hold for almost three years now.
The reason is simple: It was initiated by the previous Governor, Nancy Catamco, who lost in 2022 to the incumbent Governor.
The landowner, Melecio Calvo, who donated the property to the Provincial Government just to bring health services closer to the people of Banisilan, is left wondering what would happen to the long-dreamed hospital.
Unlike the Mlang Airport where they used me as the scapegoat to justify the 15-year delay, allegedly because of missing documents, there were no reasons given for the abandonment of the Banisilan Hospital Project.
Today, the gigantic health facility is surrounded by growing weeds and shrubs, a sad testament to the tragedy that befell on the people of the town because of petty and childish politics.
