It’s Passion! Pilot Abandons Flying, Goes Soybeans Farming

Farmer Junjun Miranda, whose family owns vast landholdings in Barangay Dado, Alamada, Cotabato believes that Soybeans farming could be the next big thing for Mindanao farmers.
Junjun is a pilot who abandoned his dream of flying to pursue his passion, farming in the highland Sitio Dulao where he and his wife, Inday, planted vegetables and flowers.
He became one of the first farmers in the area to embrace Sorghum and Soybeans farming which I introduced a few months ago.
Yesterday, Junjun showed me his Alamada White Soybeans nearing maturity.
Based on the growth and fruiting of his Soybeans, Junjun said it could be the new “hot” crop along with Sorghum, especially so since there is a ready market and a guaranteed buying price.
Junjun’s Soybeans are due for harvest September but he will expand his farm by October.
“Guapo ang performance sang Soybeans kag perfect nga rotational crop sa Sorghum kag Mais,” he said.
