I, Farm Boy! Breeding Meat Rabbits, Pakistan Racing Pigeons

Once a farmer, always a farmer.
Even in the thick of the Senatorial campaign, I have not missed the fact that whatever would be the outcome of the elections, I will always be a farmer.
This year, with the help and encouragement by friends, I am getting involved in two more farming endeavours – breeding meat rabbits and racing pigeons.
With the help of two American friends, veterinarian Dr. Bryan Tan and poultry farm owner Domi Corpuz, I was able to get 15 pairs of Pakistani Racing Pigeons for breeding.
The breeders were given to me as a gift by Dr. Tan and I will breed them to produce youngs which I intend to sell to Pigeon Racing enthusiasts.
Dr. Tan has also identified sources for outstanding families of meat rabbits, preferably the California and the American Chincilla breeds.
Photos of the two breeds which I downloaded from the Pet Keen website show a white California and ash grey Chincilla.
Both breeds could weigh up to 10 lbs. when mature.
The rabbit breeders will be shipped in from California as soon as I accomplish the needed documents while the racing pigeon breeders are ready for mating.
While I personally do not eat rabbit meat (I prefer my free range Manok Pinoy), it is considered as an excellent source of protein.
They could be bred easily as they are prolific producers and feeds are locally available.
This could contribute to our Food Self-Sufficiency Program.
